While it sounds like The Trials of White Boy Rick could easily be an alternate title for the sequel to Joe Dirt that’s inexplicably happening with David Spade, it’s just a true crime adaptation being set up at Universal Pictures. THR reports the studio has optioned the article of the same name by Evan Hughes which focuses on Rick Wershe, a teenager who lived in Detroit in the 1980s and ended up becoming a notorious drug kingpin on the East Side of the city, as well as a cocaine trafficker with the nickname of, you guessed it, White Boy Rick. But the twist is that Wershe was actually an undercover informant for the FBI and DEA. ›››
