A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

“It’s heaven!” Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Darren Aronofsky both present (for US release) the latest film from Swedish filmmaker Roy Andersson, titled A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence. This not only wins the award for best film title of the year, but it’s also one of the most original and visionary creations I’ve seen, unlike any other cinematic work out there. The film premiered at Venice & TIFF last year (where I saw it) and earned mostly positive reviews, so fans of Andersson have nothing to be worried about. A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence is a movie about “being a human being”, exploring abstract ideas and concepts connected to existence.
